Honthorst has these hands? all the time these hands in the same gesture, and it's at odds a little with the narrative of the picture, an action w/out precedent or antecedent, w/out flow, it's semiotic, this one picture is so close to the playing card tradition it's not even subtle, and then you start to notice, over and over, these hands
